We’ve added a new award rule, 'Worked While On Call', to help accurately pay on-call shifts ☎️.
With this new functionality, you can create an
award
rule
to automate hourly payments for employees who work while on call. This builds on our recent update, which added on-call
allowances
.
To configure this rule, navigate to
Time & Attendance > Compliance > Custom Award Rules > Manage > + New Award Rule.
From here, name your rule, select which staff it applies to, and choose whether it applies to ordinary or overtime hours. Then, under Step 3, ‘Conditions’, tick ‘After number of hours worked’ and select ‘Worked While On Call’.

Finally, select the rate at which the rule is paid, link it to your payroll system, and click ‘Create Rule’ ✅.
From here, it functions like most custom award rules. We check if an employee had an on-call schedule for the time they worked
(Rosters > + On Call Schedule)
and apply the rule if so 💰.
