Require approval of unavailability

It would be helpful to have the opportunity to block out date in the unavailbility calendar to restrict employess booking off for dates with large events etc. Employees would then be required to request leave on these dates which are on an approval basis and at the discretion of the management team.

Merged in a post:
Ability to approve unavailability entries that are long (5 days)

Hi, We work in a service industry and roster 7 days a week. We really appreciate the update where staff have the ability to log their own availability without our constant interaction however, this has created a short cut when staff want take long periods off without the request mechanism being involved. I think it would be great if we could have staff mark their unavailability for half of a day, an afternoon and a morning, or even two days, but their ability to have unavailability for 5 days running without a mechanism of request has seen some staff take advantage of this without regard for the remainder of their team. Is it possible to create boundaries around unavailability and push the longer times back to a leave request? What are your thoughts?

being able to approve Unavailability Requests would be very helpful for not only staff but management also.
Also if someone else has already asked for leave/unavailable and then a second person request maybe a prompt informing that Others have asked for this time off. not saying who of cause but to give a small warning that it might not be able to happen.

Amber Curtin: We agree it will be useful and we'll make sure to update you as soon as it's ready (we're working on it right now).
We're also looking at implementing a method of showing employees how many staff members are required on a given day and letting them know how many already have leave requests in so hopefully that solves both problems!

Hi everyone good news, we have a number of things planned to make managing staff leave requests and unavailability much easier.
We are adding the ability for you to approve/decline unavailability entries.
We will also be improving the time off page and calendar so that you can see all leave and unavailability in the one spot!
Watch this space! 👀

Hey there Damian Rennick and those who have voted here. I want to let you know what we have planned here. We are planning on merging leave and unavailability to create a combined time off feature. This will mean staff regardless of their employment type (casual, full time) will all use the same system to put in the times they can't work. You will also have more control over whether time off requires approval or not. I've written a post that details our plans here.
Let me know what you think.

Renee: Sounds great! Pls implement ASAP
Suggestion on Time oFF approval. I should be able to make a comment if I’m not able to approve the time off request to explain why it was declined
Renee
Bendigo Schnitz: hey there you can actually do this now on leave. This will remain the same once we merge the 2 so you can then let casuals / anyone who puts in time off let them know why it was declined.

It would be good if there was a calendar with a consolidated view of both leave and unavailability
Renee
Ian Garrett: Hey Ian, this is what we have planned.

Great idea, even blocking dates in the calendar for full and part timers. eg we don't approve any leave from mid November until end of December due to our crazy Christmas period.

Sounds great but, is it legal to block dates for casuals?
