Making Answers To Questions Mandatory

Tanda has the ability to ask questions upon certain clock ins; however it seems that the employee has the option to ignore them. If we have set up questions, it is because we need the answer to ensure they are being paid correctly (EX: Do we owe reporting time, premium payments, etc?). For example, currently if an employee clocks out prior to completing 3 hours of work in NYC, the system auto pays Reporting Time. If the employee is leaving voluntarily, we do not owe them this payment. If they were sent home by the manager however, we do. If we ask this question upon them clocking out - we NEED to get an answer and then make our assessment from there. It therefore should not be an option to ignore, as then, what is the purpose of setting up the question? If the question is not answered, the original clock out punch should be ignored.

Hi everyone, thanks for voting on this item. We now have the ability to mark a question as 'Required'.
Navigate to General Settings > Shift Questions > Check the box called Is Required?
This will show the employee a red banner when asking the question (see attached screen shot), the photograph will be taken after answering, and the time the question is shown will be doubled.
For now if the employee does not answer the question, the clock in/out will still be recorded but a comment will be added to the employee's timesheet stating the question was not answered (this works for non-required questions too!). Let us know if this works for you.

Hi everyone
Thanks for voting on this one - we have noticed the same issues.
We are in the process of adding the ability to mark a question as Required.
Because the shift question relies on the type of punch (e.g. only show this question on late clock outs) we must show the question after an employee has selected a punch type. So we are a bit limited by what we can do to enforce answering the question.
The changes we are making right now are:
- Add warning to the question that says "Required to complete clock in/out"
- Doubled the length of time the question appears to avoid it timing out
- Removed the animation/delay shown before the question to make it clear it requires action
Additionally we are also adding:
- If a TC question is not answered, a comment will appear on the relevant timesheet saying so, so that organisations can report and manage these instances
The reason we are hesitant to "ignore" the punch is that the data needs to be stored somewhere. We would like to see if item 1-4 fix the majority of cases here. I will update the post once this work is complete, but please let me know if this continues to be an issue for you: jess@tanda.co

Agree that it needs to be mandatory. I think another reason why the question is not answered is the delay in the questions appearing on the screen & staff walk away as soon as they have clocked on.
