Some employees have preferred names that don't match the given name that is required for payroll. This is particularly an issue for international employees who are only known by their preferred names e.g. when swapping shifts.

Phil Johnson thank you. This is great news. I've read through the information and i can see the change in the new staff screen. Are existing staff able to update their profile? We have current staff who would like to be able to use their preferred name.

Hi Natalie Reynolds, at this stage updates to the preferred name field on the employee profile can only be made by a manager. When an employee completes onboarding from now forward, they will be completing their legal name.

The main priority of this enhancement was to firstly add the functionality to the employee profile. We know it will be useful to give employees the ability to complete both their legal and preferred name when onboarding, and now that the underlying functionality now exists, we will look to roll out the preferred name concept to more areas of Tanda.

Donna Smith i did do some reading and if you uodaye tje employees profile to the new format the payroll manager can update their oteffeted name. i haven't checked what this does to our payroll system yet as I have already run pays this FN, but i might do a test.

This is great news and will be so welcomed by our staff. We are unfortunately are of the ones that can't have a preferred name as it filters to payroll. We have a number of staff for so many reasons that use different names. And having those names on rosters just seems respectful to them.

We have a number of staff that use a different name to the one on their bank account or tax file number and many have requested we change the name on the roster. For cultural reasons, many can't use their surname after an elder family member has passed, others its their nickname or their english name, others don't want people to know their full name due to domestic violence. It would be good to have a field for preferred name and another for proper name as per TFN etc.

lets get onto this, great idea, many staff have a name they prefer, would be so easy to implement a nickname, or preferred name that is separate to the one they receive on their pay slip

Totally need this. This is causing some heart ache for our trans staff members. It is so hard for them to have to explain why they are listed as their wrong name.

Yes a most valuable addition. Some people haven't been known by their legal names for years. Some employees, prefer to be known by their middle names and some prefer the shortened version of their birth name. Workforce seem to be behind the times on this one as other platforms have been doing this for years. Thanks

Totally agree, given the world of gender diverse employees and international workers this is definitely needed. Also staff have the right to be known by their preferred name.
