I love that staff can apply for leave on the Tanda tablet, however it is interesting to see the correlation between the increased sick leave across the board since staff have had the ability to see their accrued hours on Tanda!
Is there a way we can display Annual leave and not personal leave?

Thanks for voting everyone, it is now possible to not display either leave balances to employees.
Head to Compliance Centre, then Leave Types, then edit the relevant leave type. Tick "Don't show employees their balance for this leave type" and only the leave type will display to your employees.
You can still check an employee's leave balance via their staff profile

Jess Golding: Hi Jess, I don't think so this is done. Staff still can see their leave in Tanda App. See attached. Sick/Carrer/Personal Leave should be showed only to Admins and General Managers. Not to Duty Managers.

Do you want to hide Team Managers own sick leave balances from them? Or do you want to hide all employees sick leave balances from them?
If it's the later, doesn't the Team Manager need to know how much leave the employee has so that they can approve the request?

Hi all, thank you so much for your feedback here. We have been reviewing all of this feedback and have decided that an option to hide sick leave is something that is clearly needed. Not having it is clearly making your lives harder and we want to reduce that as much as we can. We are going to put this on our roadmap and get it done.
I don't have any timeline for you just yet. But its definitely going on our roadmap for this year.

Hey Alicia White I have come up with a decent work around if in the mean time. If you go into the leave types tab and unlink it from your payroll. It will stop updating the totals. Then go and reupload everyone's sick leave to 0 hours. This way people can still apply for sick leave and upload a doc cert but it won't show how many hours they have. When you do the pay you just need to manually input over the sick leave hours. If you ask the tanda staff they should be able to help you with this too.

I appreciate the response but I believe the specifics in how you design this feature can overcome the issues you have raised.
- Prior to Tanda we saw sick leave taken was significantly lower, while I agree it should be addressed at the management level. Having the technological capability/option on Tanda as well,helps us address this issue easier.
- In most modern payroll systems (I used MYOB account right live) customers are given the option to hide not only sick leave but also annual and long service as it is not required on payslips https://www.fairwork.gov.au/pay/pay-slips-and-record-keeping/pay-slips
- I don’t believe hiding sick leave negatively affects staff who legitimately require it, as with this feature they should still be able to apply for the sick leave, just that they cannot see their balance.
- As stated before by yourself, usually it is a few bad apples. If this feature could be done on an employee level, location level, team level and account wide level, I think would be a good compromise.
- I can appreciate that Tanda has their own product principles and in the same spirit I believe not building this feature actually makes it less transparent for staff. We are currently recommended by Tanda staff (when this issue arises) to use a much blunter approach of disabling all leave request via Tanda so staff cannot see sick or annual leave. By having this feature, we can be more transparent showing annual and long service as oppose to nothing at all.
This feature is a big concern for my company and others as seen by the thread/votes above. I hope you can take my points on board and reconsider the decision to not proceed with this feature.

Unfortunately, Tanda does not agree with giving the the paying customer/business options on how to manage their team and their leave. It would be much appreciated if each business was able to use TANDA to suit their team/requirements!

Hello everyone who has voted and commented here.
Apologies for the delay in responding to this, we have been reviewing this issue and at this stage we don’t plan on hiding sick balances from staff.
After speaking with businesses who reported this issue they mentioned that it was just one or two staff who they believed to be acting dishonestly / abusing their sick leave balance when they weren't really sick.
There are a couple of key reasons we aren't keen on building a feature in that allows hiding of sick balances:
- This is a business issue that can't really be solved through Tanda - its one that should be addressed a management level with those employees
- Sick leave balances are visible on employee payslips ,so even by hiding it in the App it's unlikely to solve the root issue here, which is employees acting dishonestly
- It's not fair to hide sick leave balances from staff who do legitimately need sick leave (Or carer's leave)
- This would go against one of product principles which is to build trust and transparency between employees and employers — making it harder for all employees to access their own balance (because of the actions of a few) doesn't promote trust or seem fair for them.
I hope that helps explain our reasoning behind not adding this functionality in to Tanda. I'll keep this post open and we will be monitoring it regularly.
