Summary
Enable managers to roster team members to locations outside of those assigned in their Team Profile, without first needing to update the employee's location assignments.
Problem
Currently, managers can only roster employees to locations that are included in their Team Profile. This creates unnecessary administrative work when an employee needs to temporarily work at another location, as managers must first update the Team Profile before they can assign a shift.
For businesses that frequently move staff between locations to cover leave, respond to demand, or support other sites, this adds friction to what should be a simple rostering task.
Proposed Solution
Allow managers with the appropriate permissions to assign shifts at any location within their organisation, even if the employee is not currently assigned to that location in their Team Profile.
Potential safeguards could include:
  • An organisation-level setting to enable or disable this behaviour.
  • Permission controls limiting the feature to specific manager roles.
  • A warning or confirmation when rostering an employee to a location outside their assigned Team Profile.
  • Optional automatic addition of the location to the employee's Team Profile if the organisation chooses.
Benefits
  • Reduces administrative overhead for managers.
  • Streamlines temporary transfers between locations.
  • Improves flexibility when covering unexpected absences or busy periods.
  • Speeds up roster creation and last-minute scheduling changes.
  • Better supports multi-site organisations with shared workforces.
Use Case
A manager at Store A needs to cover a last-minute shift at Store B. The employee is available and qualified to work there, but Store B is not listed in their Team Profile. Instead of editing the employee's profile before creating the shift, the manager can simply assign the shift at Store B, making the rostering process faster and more efficient.
