You can leave comments via the sidebar when scheduling :)

Alex: Hi Alex, do these comments transfer across to the employee timesheets (as comments on there) as well? Or are they only visible in the roster?
Alex
Hey Emma, the comments only show up on the roster (they can also be sent to employees when publishing).

I'd like to write notes for that person doing that shift, example a kitchen shift I could add a message: don't forget to order bananas, or new trainee coming today etc

We use the app for community services. Would be great to be able to add short notes such as "client to see dr today" or "client will not be home, please use key" etc.

Individual staff notes regarding their shift

Much like the ability to input events with added note, I'd like the ability to attach a note to individual shifts that the staff member can see.

There is an option to do this, go to customise>platform objects>schedule and create a new field. This will appear on the left, when you click on a shift and you can choose who it is visible to.

Austin Wilshire: Any update on this? This functionality is stopping us from joining workforce.
As per Vicki (the OP) and PK’s comments, we need shift notes to be visible to the user so that they can clearly see that a specific shift has a note attached to it, without having to check each shift manually. Our existing rota software does this, and we want to move to Workforce for the other features you offer, but this simple notes feature is essential to the way we operate (theatre).
Also as per PK’s comment below we need to be able to create a custom field when creating a shift, and for that field to be able to track through to the timesheet export.

Very happy to say that this feature is underway, and in the final rounds of testing before it is released.

Austin Wilshire: Please copy the shift notes to timesheets comments so that they are exported to excel reports.
In addition, currently shift notes not copied with shift if Ctrl C and Ctrl V used, please allow.
Finally, allow notes to be seen when cursor hovered over the shift, currently have to click on each shift to see the notes on the left.

PK: I second all of this, these are essential features for our use-case

Hi all,
This is possible at the moment - through our platform features: https://help.tanda.co/en/articles/3083034-custom-fields-create-your-own-forms-and-collect-specific-tailored-information
You can create custom fields and put notes against any rostered shift that the staff will then receive in the app & in the email. You can also make 'manager-only' notes.
Head to 'Platform' in the main navigation
Find 'Customise Native Objects' and click the blue configure link that's next to 'Rostered Shift'
Under 'Add Fields To Object' you can enter a new field
Add a name (e.g. Comments or Notes), select the type (text), select who can see it, and select who can edit it
Hit the green 'add' button and you're done
Feel free to get in touch with the team at support@tanda.co on how to best set this up!

would be great to add shift details (notes) for more of a customised rostering system (something similar to Deputy)
