Payroll (AU) - 2025/26 STSL Tax Rates

We have updated the tax withholding rates for Study and Training Loans (e.g. HECS). Some key points about these:

They apply from 1st July, but were only announced on 11th August
The deadline for payers to adjust how much they withhold is 24th September any additional amounts already withheld this financial year will not be refunded/adjusted - the employee claims them back in their next tax return.
It has now changed to a marginal repayment system - rather than a threshold/percentage of total income. Most people will see a reduction in their study debt withholding
